Wall-E

So, in case I didn't mention it to anyone who may be reading this, Disney is going to be at this years Faire. We saw the crates with Wall-E painted on the outside, so I am quite excited to see what they are going to do. I never figured that they would come to something like this, but really this is a gathering of some of the brightest and most creative minds around, and usually people who are really good at building stuff - which makes sense considering it appears that WDI is hiring.

Unfortunately not everything is great this year, we are stuck in a 10x10 booth, with chain link dividers on both sides of us. It's a real squeeze, a real tight squeeze. And not to mention that SparkFun is right across from us, they aren't exactly are arch nemesis, but they are competition. Instructables is kitty-korner to us as well which is cool, though I must say, our laser is bigger than theirs :-)

So we are squished in and it's going to be a lot of work to get people in and out but we can do it, we have the mousebot, which is very cool. The Faire definitely is bigger this year a bit better run, and bigger sponsers which is all very cool. That and we aren't working 10AM to 10PM as we expected, our area is going to close at 6PM which means that we can actually see stuff at night, including the Flaming Lotus Girls. I'll take pictures :-)

Oh, and I already got a free shirt and some stickers from Yahoo! And I had the strawberry crepes (Bacon and Eggs tomorrow!)

Big plans... to sleep!

So we had big plans this morning to get up early, and check some stuff out before we met up with Dave & Cheryl at 11:30 for brunch. Well, our big plans were snored right through, apparently we needed the sleep.

We are having brunch at a cool little place right beside the San Mateo County Fair grounds that serves really good breakfast with really fresh fruit. It's like Denny's but so much better. So I'm thinking Crepe's with either strawberry's or peaches. It's a tough decision but someone has to make it.

It's going to be a busy day setting up the booth and all the other fun stuff. It's the Maker Day today so there are things to see and do as well, but I have no idea what, ending off with a giant BBQ put on by O'Reilly, should be fun. But it might be late before we have a chance to post again, on the hotels "high-speed." I don't know if it's shorts weather yet but it sure is sunny, beat rain and snow we were supposed to have in Calgary.

San Francisco Again!

We are back in San Fran again, heading to the 2008 Make Faire. We are here 2 weeks earlier than last year, with the Faire being a whole 3 weeks early. It's fine and all, other than the fact that I just finished exams, ie: this morning. So it's been quite a day.

The flight here was rather uneventful, or rather the 3 hour wait to get on the airplane was uneventful. I'm pretty sure next time we plan on 90 minutes rather than 3 hours (longer then the whole flight here). Once we got on the plane, an Air Canada Embraer E190 we just had to wait for them to start the engines, shut down the engines and then unload a passenger's baggage who didn't make the flight then restart the engines and take off.

The flight was nice and direct, we both watch I Am Legend on the airplane, good movie, except for the dog. We landed at 8:15 PM PST in SFO, again uneventful other than the pilot actually missed the docking location, he had to turn the plane around and come back in. But I can't complain too loudly as it took us a while to get going the right direction on the 101, and when we were going the right direction even longer to get off on the right ramp which would get us to our hotel. But we've finally made it. And now we are going to bed, as it's been a very long and very busy day.

We have pictures but I'm too tired to upload them, maybe tomorrow :-) Oh, and we got bumped up from a Sebring to a Jeep Compass, the only thing Jeep about it though is the name. It's even white, but at least it's a bit bigger than the Sebring.
