The Happiest Place on Earth...

Well, we made it, we drove into LA with the great directions of Auntie Renee we made it to Disneyland. LA traffic we find is not that bad, not much crazier then the Deerfoot, but it sure is a lot more confusing. You can turn off here, or there, but try and find the actual turnoff and it's just about impossible.

But once we got there, and our nerves relaxed, we had a ton of fun going to Disneyland. Our first ride we went on was the Pirates of the Carribean, in consideration of the upcoming movie, and just because it's a fun ride. From there we went on to ride Indiana Jones and the Haunted Mansion. The whole trip was fantastic, we had short cue lines almost all the way, waiting at most 20 minutes. Our favorite ride by far was the Matterhorn, and then Space Mountain, both we rode multiple times.

After watching the parade and the park closed we went and had supper at Tortilla Jo's, some really good Mexican food. Following that we did some shopping, which we can't mention what we bought because it might spoil some surprises. But let's just say that there is a very cool LEGO store there, which sells bulk LEGO parts :-).

That evening, after finishing shopping, we had a quick jump in the Hot Tub, and met a nice family from Jasper, Alberta. It's a small world, so we talked a bit about our trips to SoCal and common areas we were familiar with in Alberta.

The cool part of being at Disney right now is they were setting up for the Pirates of the Carribean premiere, so they had a huge screen on Tom Sawyer's island, and seats on the other side of the river. That would be a great premiere to see, but it's on Saturday, while we are in San Francisco, it's possible to fly, but I don't think there would be enough time!

This morning, after waking up late (screwed up alarm clock), we checked out and returned to Disney, starting at California Adventureland and riding the Hollywood Hotel. That is a thriller, it really gets your heart going! Then back to Disneyland and more of our favorite rides, and a whole lot of shopping!

Our trip back home was uneventful, and after a supper at Del Paco's and desert at DQ we are ready to sleep for our trip to San Fran tomorrow. We are hoping to run up through Monterey, and maybe see the aquarium, and then head to our hotel in San Mateo.

Off to a Ghost Town!

Good morning everyone!

After a lovely sleep-in (all the way till 8:00am CA time, that's 9:00 MST!), Eric and I are ready for another excellent chapter of this adventure. We will be going to a little town called Calico today. Apparently there used to be an old mine there and many of the old buildings still exist. As you all know, exploring places like this is a favorite past time of Eric and I, so we should have a blast. I will post pictures later this evening of all the things we saw today.

Another thing on the list of things to do today is that I think Amanda and I are going to go get pedicures when she gets back from her exam today. She suggested it last night and I think that is lovely idea! What a girly-girl I can be :)

Attached are three pictures which I took on the car ride to Hinkley. You must understand that this is a very long, very flat, very straight road through country peppered with sand, rocks, some more sand, a few rocks, occasionally some sand with rocks, then some rocks with sand...

Enjoy and I'll talk to you again soon!

Love,
Becky
